Many of us hear him bark but how many take the time to see the sadness in his eyes. He/she is owner-less and unwanted. He/she has no home as well as their food timings are also not fixed. They have to fend for his own shelter, safety and food at the tender age of 3 months as soon as their parents drive them out of their territory. Every time they crosses the street, they have to fight death each time. Who do you thing we are talking about? Well it’s our own “Stray Animals”.
First thing that comes in our mind when we talk about sterilization is that why we need to take such harsh step when it is also a gift to all mankind by the supreme power.
“The Average dog is a nicer person than the Average person”
But the fantasy is something different from Reality: Mating happens in the middle of the road with other males try to rip apart each other. Most of the males die due to the road accidents during the heat season. Just visualize giving birth to a litter of more than 7 and that too in gutter holes or makeshift ditches where there is no basic protection from predators or even shelter in order to protect from sun or rain. All of the above is it generous to the female to see most of her puppies die a slow painful death, one by one either due to road accidents or due to some disease.
Now imagine about the female which has gone through all this twice or thrice a year for more than 10 years. Do these strays deserve such hostile treatment from our end when their entire life is nothing but fight for survival at every step of their life? They guard our societies in the night and bark at all strangers thereby ensuring the best-unpaid security one could ever have. We don’t force you to love these strays, if you don’t, but we definitely encourage and strongly defend their rights to stop people from thinking of them as being objects of sadism. Let us all join our hands together to ensure that the “Strays Animals” gets the share of respect that they deserves.
